Shopping List: Week 23

Happy April! I hope you guys had a lovely weekend. I had a nice little visit from my parents, ate at a few of my favorite places, sat on my butt and watched 40,000+ people do a 10K (next year…), had some ice cream, got some reading done, and did my grocery shopping!

For those of you in Richmond – I got to try Peter Chang’s this weekend… SO GOOD. Go stat. Just make sure you go with 4+ people and make a reservation. Get the fried eggplant, the dumplings, and the bubble pancakes. The Peter Chang duck was pretty tasty too. Yum. I’ll definitely be going back next time I get the opportunity for a group restaurant outing.

Anyway, back to the task at hand. After all that restaurant eating, a little lighter fare sounded like a good idea this week.

Here’s what I have planned:

  • Fruit
  • Granola bars
  • Boiled eggs

Lunches & dinners

What I’m using that I have already:

Meat/Dairy/Cold stuff

  • Milk
  • Butter
  • Eggs
  • 1 c frozen peas

  • Oats
  • Oatmeal toppin’s
  • Flour
  • Pecans
  • Baking powder & baking soda
  • Salt & pepper
  • Brown sugar
  • Vanilla extract
  • Olive oil
  • Whole wheat tortillas (leftover from my road trip wraps)
  • Cumin
  • Bay leaf

My shopping list:

  • 1 carton strawberries
  • Snack fruit (I got bananas and pears)
  • 2 ears of corn
  • 2 limes
  • 2 jalapeno peppers
  • 1 yellow squash
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 3 roma tomatoes
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 red onion
  • cilantro
  • 1 head of lettuce
  • garlic
  • 1 medium potato

Meat/Dairy/Cold stuff

  • 1 container Greek yogurt
  • Monterey jack cheese
  • 1 bag frozen peeled & deveined shrimp
  • 1 – 1.5 lbs ground chicken (I got whole chicken breasts because they’re cheaper & I can grind them at home)

  • 1 8-oz can no salt added tomato sauce
  • Granola bars
  • Cereal

What I spent:

Get this guys. This may be the single best shopping trip accomplishment to date. I got: a bag of shrimp, an extra big yogurt, an extra box of cereal, more lettuce than I need, more cheese than I need, a little extra chicken and three reese’s eggs (my weakness) – along with all the other goodies I listed up there – for (drumroll)…. $39.61. Woot woot!

The magic combination of a few good sales, some overlapping ingredients, and using up some stuff that I have sitting around already made for a win at the grocery store. It’s not often I get that many goodies in one trip. It’s gonna be a good week, y’all.
